Once at Ferrandou, it is unlikely that you will want to go anywhere else as all you need is here, however we should tell you something about our surroundings just in case you wish to go sightseeing.
Ferrandou is situated in the mainly farming district of Aude, SW France in an area known as the Lauragais. To the east is the ancient walled city of Carcassonne; to the west the hi-tech vibrant city of Toulouse, home of Airbus. This is the main commercial and shopping centre for the area with many of the superstores located around the outskirts of this large city.

Closer by (20 minutes away) is Ganguise Lake where you can fish, sail, windsurf or just picnic. Very picturesque and uncrowded at most times. There are also many local village markets where you can buy just about everything, or just watch French rural life at work. History abounds in the whole area. There are medieval villages to be explored and if you like a mystery there is Rennes-Le-Château with its Da Vinci Code connections and where a lot of questions still remain unanswered. . .

Andorra is to the south and being outside of the EEC it is a haven for shoppers from France and Spain who buy their duty-free cigarettes, alcohol, souvenirs and fuel. With an early start you can continue on through to the border of Spain and still return the same day.
